I set out to explore the theme of Narrative. The final artworks I have produced relate to items or physical spaces that provide us with personal senses of comfort and space that we frequently attach meaning and value to. I set out to photograph the interiors of people’s homes and highlight architecture or an atmosphere. I wanted the subject matter to identify with the viewer, perhaps lead them to consider the real importance of our material items. I sought to incorporate textiles into my series and have an element of fabric texture to contrast the textures of a natural environment. The presentation of artworks is influenced by the cinematic style of stills that suggest a larger story behind a solitary image. making it a relevant way to present film photos that are largely influenced by cinematography and have been taken on an old analogue camera. The projection is intended to have an effect of nostalgia on the viewer, as a slightly obscure way of showing images that are themselves communicating a degradation of physical spaces and objects. I’ve also made a zine to present in conjunction with the projection and a separate mounted series on the wall. The zine-style of the presentation relates to the influence of photojournalism in the images.  I think the transparent paper is effective in contrasting a modern aesthetic with the old elements within the photos and relates to my idea of removing comfort from its context and placing it in a space that is changing.
