Tasmania Football Team

My client is the Australian football league (AFL). The AFL is the governing body of the highest football league in Australia. Currently there are 18 teams in the AFL, with 10 located in Victoria and two each in South Australia, West Australia, Queensland and New South Wales. Currently there are no AFL teams in Tasmania, Canberra and the NT.  Tasmania as a state has produced talent amassing over 300 AFL/VFL players including past players such as Ian Stewart, Peter Hudson and Matthew Richardson. Current players from the state include Ben Brown, Mitch Robinson and Jeremy Howe.  Due to their large contribution to the game and continued backing for the sport, the AFL and Tasmanian Government are planning the introduction of a 19th license for a Tasmanian team. The currently used AFL stadiums in UTAS Stadium and Blundstone Arena only boast capacities of just under ‘20,000’ each*** meaning the construction of a new stadium will take place, likely ‘finishing in 2027’**** which would signify the earliest point a new team may enter the competition. Currently there is no identity for this new club.

Communication Need 1

The team requires an identity as a sporting club to help define them on and off the field. The identity needs to be suitable for branding and marketing as well.

Communication Need 2

The new club requires design collateral for an opening function to inform people of the new club. This will help spread the word about the club and boost its support.
