Home was my theme for this series and it was created with my favourite art form, this being digital photography. It turned out to be a fitting theme to pursue due to the events of this year. I used my time in isolation to my advantage and reflected on what home means to me. The result was, as seen here, a series of 16 photographs but only 8 different subjects. The approach I have taken is that the top row of photographs (the A series), features naturalistic photographs and the bottom row (the B series) features unnatural, inverted versions of the A series. The idea communicated here is that while home is a place of comfort, it can also be a place of conflict, stress and loneliness. The series is a collection of ‘fragments’, as each image shows only part of the whole subject matter. This is because I find that home is made up of many small parts. These ‘fragments’ are able to be viewed independently, however, they have common elements, such as line, texture, light and colour palette, which contribute to making the series cohesive.
